The “hero image” for the website is from the Texas Panhandle and was taken by Jack Delano (1914-1997). It was among the images he captured for the Farm Security Administration during the Great Depression and early days of World War II. The FSA was part of Roosevelt’s New Deal and was meant to support small farmers and communities affected by the Depression. Even in a time of economic turmoil and war, the arts were important.
